StopWatch v2.00 Sep 1996 ======================== Introduction ------------ StopWatch is a simple OPL program for the Psion S3a to time events to a resolution of up to 10mS. It behaves as a start/ stop stopwatch. 100 lap times may be latched (though only the last few are visible in this version) as the clock is running. StopWatch may be freely distributed. Author ------ Simon Pooley, email: spooley@cix.compulink.co.uk or try my web page: http://www.cix.compulink.co.uk/~ropewalk/psion I make no promise to support or enhance StopWatch , but if you have any ideas, requests or comments then please feel free to email me. Installation ------------ The distribution contains two versions of StopWatch: StopWatch.OPO and StopWatch.OPA. If you want StopWatch to appear with its own icon, copy StopWatch.OPA to the \APP\ directory on any drive, and install it on the system screen using Psion-I. If you want StopWatch to appear under the RunOPL icon on the system screen, copy StopWatch.OPO to the \OPO\ directory on any drive. If you want on-line help, copy the help file STOPWTCH.RSC to the \OPD\ directory on any Psion drive. Operation --------- Launch StopWatch by selecting its name under its own icon (StopWatch.OPA) or the name "StopWatch" under the RunOPL icon (StopWatch.OPO) on the system screen and pressing . The StopWatch screen features a window showing the current reading, with several "buttons" under it to remind you of the keyboard shortcuts to the most common operations. The right-side of the screen shows a table where any latched lap times are displayed. Press Space to start the clock running. Pressing Space again will stop the clock. Delete zeros the display and clears any lap times. clock running again. While the clock is running, Enter will latch the current value into the lap table, without stopping the clock. Diamond toggles the display between hh:mm:ss.ss and ssss.ss formats. See the on-line help for more notes. Distribution ------------ The following files are contained in the distribution: STOPWTCH.OPO OPO version of StopWatch, for launching via the RunOPL icon. STOPWTCH.OPA Application version of StopWatch, for installation on the system screen. STOPWTCH.RSC Help file. Install in an \OPD\ directory on any drive. STOPWTCH.TXT This file. History ------- v1.00 jun1996 - First widely-distributed version. v2.00 30sep1996 Many thanks to all those people who responded to version 1.00 by emailing me comments. Most of the suggestions below are a direct result of that feedback. Thankyou. - Change behaviour so that space acts as a start/stop toggle. In version 1.00 starting the stopped clock automatically zeroed the clock. Now you must explicitly reset the clock with Delete. - Many changes to the lap table: o Lap values are now stored so that they can be redisplayed if the screen is resized to display a status window or if the format is toggled between hh:mm:ss ssss.ss; o The font used can be zoomed so you can display between 6 and 13 lap times; o Successive laps now scroll up the table, rather than wrapping; o Tab will now clear any lap times without affecting the clock. - The program logic has been reworked to be less modal: now most functions can be actioned whilst the clock is running (although the clock display is not updated whilst other re-drawing is going on, StopWatch will still maintain time). - Change process name to StopWtch. ---end---
